DANGEROUSLY VENOMOUS Identification: The Red Bellied Back Snake grows to around 1.6m. It has a moderately robust body and its head is slightly wider than its neck. The colour of its back and sides is shiny black. The lower edge of the sides is light pink or cream in Far North Queensland as opposed to bright red in southern states. Habitat: Found in rainforest and is often close to creeks, ponds and dams as it is an excellent swimmer.
