Brown Tree Snake (MILDLY VENOMOUS)

The SECOND most commonly relocated snake around Cairns. Identification:  The Brown Tree Snake grows to around 1.4m.  It has a slender body and a broad head which is significantly wider than the narrow neck.    Its eyes are large with vertical pupils.  The colour of the back and sides is greyish brown to reddish brown with irregular dark brown or blackish bands.  The undersurface is cream, yellowish or salmon.    Habitat:    Found around rainforest and occasionally in people’s houses.
